GIANTS STAMPEDE TO CHESTER ZOO

THE giants are ‘marching’ their way to Chester Zoo this year proving that big is best!

2010 will be the Year of Giants at the award-winning zoo with the arrival of two magnificent new species.

Giant Anteaters and Giant Otters will be making their home at the 110-acre zoo for the first time. Giant Otters can be up to 1.8 metres long where as Giant Anteaters can measure an impressive 2m in length. The unusual species will not be the only newcomers this year. African Painted dogs will also be joining the collection.

The new big arrivals are not the only ones that can be seen as Chester Zoo has over 7.000 animals and 400 different species, including some of the most endangered on the planet.

Other animals which can’t be missed include the magnificent herd of Asian Elephants, the crash of nine Black Rhinos and the delightful Orang-utans in Realm of the Red Ape, the largest Orang-utan house in Europe.

There are also plenty of places for visitors to take the weight of their feet and enjoy some refreshments, be it in the themed Cafe Tsavo, the Ark Restaurant or in the splendour of the Oakfield mansion.

Little monkeys can burn off energy at the Fun Ark or, for younger children, at the Ape Around play area.

The zoo – a registered conservation charity which supports projects around the world - is open all year, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, from 10am. Last entry and closing times vary with the seasons. Please visit chesterzoo.org for more details.
